Tagaytay 2019

June 1 – 2, 2019
Asis’ family decided to have a day getaway in Tagaytay and I grabbed the opportunity to come. I badly needed a change of scenery since I’ve been staying at home for the past few months just working and slacking most of the time. I also wanted to try out the new film lens I bought for my Canon AE-1 Program. Too bad the kit lens got broken when boyf tried to fix and clean both the body and the lens. Anyway, I was excited to try and see the outcome of the Zenit Helios 44M-7 50mm f2 manual lens I bought from Kamera Club Store (secondhand) and I wanted to check if the camera’s shutter window is fixed when boyf CLA’d it.

Here are the outcome:

Glad all these shots turned out okay. I was honestly worried about the outcome. I’m new to analog photography and I’m still not sure what setting should I set my camera on. I can’t even use now the program setting since I also need the lens to be set on automatic which is one of the features of the actual camera model I’m using together with its kit lens. Everything needs to be set manually now that I have a new lens and it can really be daunting. Yes, I have knowledge of the ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, but it is still pretty hard to grasp the right settings with analog. It might take me some time to get the hang of it and I can’t wait to improve.. or might as well just experiment and try out techniques since in film you will never really know how your shots will turn out to be. Everything will sometimes turn out bizarrely different than how you planned them to be. Maybe your shots will have light leaks or blank shots, or sometimes it will be over or underexposed, or maybe you’ll get a happy accident shot. You never know. Oh, the thrill of not knowing! These errors/flaws sometimes make the photos have a unique outcome. Ugh, I love film photography! Why does it have to be damn expensive?

Camera: Canon AE-1 Program
Film: Fujicolor C200
Processed & Scanned: YKL/Fujifilm Sto. Domingo (Same day process – 1 to 2 hours)

Yo, your photos are gorgeous! What's the difference of analog and usual camera? I'm a total newbie to photography and I usually just adjust ISO setting according to brightness lol

Thank you, Rasya! Well when using analog camera you need to adjust everything depending on the light situation. It is all manual and you can't see the result right away since you have to have your film roll/s processed and scanned first, while the digital you can just simply set it to automatic mode and just point and shoot, and you get to see your shots right away. 🙂
